Goering Swiss C-1920’s Sterling Silver Chronograph, Early Valjoux Movement
Item #2485 SOLD
Here we have a very Rare Sterling Silver Goering signed chronograph wristwatch in outstanding condition. One of the best features is that the movement is an early Valjoux, the most iconic name in vintage chronograph movements. Very high grade and even better made. All steel parts have beveled edges and are very finely finished. It is also a column wheel design chronograph which is considered by many as the very best design.
The watch is housed in a Goering signed 3-pc sterling silver case. It measures 32.32mm across without the crown. Fully signed and not polished in maybe a generation or so. The original offwhite dial looks great with scrolling Arabic markers and original blued steel Breguet hands. All in wonderful condition given their age. The signed manual wind chronograph movement features 15 jewels and is marked “Adjusted to Two Positions”.
The watch has just been fully serviced. The case was cleaned, but the finish was left as original. Considering its age at around 90 years old, the condition is outstanding and shows some great patina. The movement was fully overhauled, during which we installed a new mainspring and a brand new (original) glass crystal. It’s running strong and keeping good time, with its chronograph functioning just as it should.
