Rolex Explorer ref. #14270 C-1990 Item #2505 SOLD
This 1990 Explorer is the last of the breed before Rolex changed the case design. A real classic with roots dating back to the 1950's.
The Rolex Explorer is the simplest of the Rolex line of Chronometer Certified sport watches. With no date window or other complications, it is just a fine, clean-looking watch in a sturdy 36mm stainless steel Oyster case.
This dial and hands look great as does the sapphire crystal. The case and bracelet are also in great condition showing minimal signs of its past life. Certainly looks much better than most pre-owned watches. The Caliber 3000 automatic movement features 27 jewels. It is marked "Adjusted To 5 Positions And Temperature".
It comes fully serviced (including all new gaskets) and ready to provide years of faithful service. The case and bracelet were completely disassembled during service, did some light refinishing and then ultrasonically cleaned them. During service, we also installed a brand new casetube. Take a look at the second photo – it shows the crown unscrewed to reveal a brand new case tube. Also, once service was completed, we preformed a pressure and vacuum test to ensure the case is sealed. It passed both test and we have provided a printout of the results (please see the last picture). Many sellers will cut corners with servicing. We make sure to address the entire watch.
A true classic in great pre-owned condition is running well and keeping time as it should! Since these were discontinued they are increasing in value making this model a good investment.
