Rolex Explorer ref. #114270 C-2004 Item #2584 Sold
A wonderful example of the last of the truly classic sports watches from Rolex. This 2004 Explorer was the last of the breed before Rolex blew up the case design. A true classic with roots dating back to the 1950's.
The Rolex Explorer is the simplest of the Rolex line of Chronometer Certified sport watches. With no date window or other complications, it is just a fine, clean-looking watch in a sturdy 36mm stainless steel Oyster case. The watch comes on the SEL (solid end link) Oyster Fliplock Bracelet with end links machined from a solid piece of stainless steel. The clasp is the newer style small double fliplock.
This dial and hands are perfect. In 2004 Rolex was using Super Luminova so both still glow brightly in the dark.
The watch comes fully serviced, keeping very good time. During service, we completely disassembled both the case and bracelet and ultrasonically cleaned them. The watch case itself was left alone. Just as it came from the factory with of course, some signs of mostly limited use. The only real sign of wear is a small ding in the bezel at around 11:00. This could have been removed, but we balanced that imperfection with wanting to keep the watch original, and original won out. The bracelet was lightly refinished and came out great.
The watch comes with its original inner and outer presentation box set, Chronometer Certificate with matching reference and serial numbers, along with Swimpruf and Chronometer hang tags, polishing cloth, documents folder, and 3 booklets (Your Rolex Oyster, Rolex Explorer, and Factory Service). Also included are 2 additional Oyster links that were removed for sizing.
A true classic in great, pre-owned condition!
