Jaeger-LeCoultre Solid 18K Gold C-1940’s Item #2604 SOLD
Here we have a truly stunning ALL ORIGINAL Jaeger-LeCoultre manual-wind wristwatch from the 1940’s in SOLID 18K GOLD!
It's a huge watch for the period with the 18K gold case measuring 35.3mm across without the crown and 43.6mm from lug tip to lug tip. With a high polish bezel and a wide champagne dial, it wears even bigger. Take a look at the very last photo for an idea of how it looks on the wrist (For reference, I am 5ft 9in and 160lb). The high polish finish looks all original, stamped 18K inside and out. The case also features a correct glass crystal that displays the dial perfectly. Many of these have been replaced with incorrect acrylic crystals that give the edges of the dial a wavy, distorted appearance. Not the case with this one! An original matching gold crown completes the look.
The dial finish is all original with a two-tone champagne background and applied, high polish gold hour markers. Matching original gold, faceted dauphine style hands top it all off. The dial has some ever-so-slight aging which just adds to the great vintage look. Powering the watch is a Jaeger-LeCoultre in-house top-of-the-line gilt finish manual wind movement; Swiss made, signed, and with a 475,000 serial number. It is in outstanding condition. In fact, we though it was so nice we included 2 photos of it at different angles.
The watch comes fully restored including a new mainspring and a PERFECT vintage new old stock glass crystal installed. During service, we completely disassembled the case and did some very light refinishing. It looked to us that we were the first ones to touch the case so we proceeded with great respect. After we were finished, the case was then ultrasonically cleaned. The watch comes looking great and running beautifully. We paired it with a handmade Italian lizard strap in dark brown.
