Wittnauer 1940's Valjoux 22 Chronograph Item #2703 SOLD
Here we have a Wittnauer chronograph from the 1940's in wonderful, all original condition. Fully signed on the dial, movement, and inside caseback.
The 32.5mm stainless steel case looks like it's never been polished. It retains its original finish, edges, and angles. Aside from some light scuffing, there is really no wear to speak of. We ultrasonically cleaned the case, but otherwise left it alone. The case also features an original crown as well as original rectangular pushers (classic for the period).
The finish on the multicolor (silver, black, red and blue) dial is all original, as are the blued steel hands. Just a hint of aging that gives this already great looking dial just that much more character.
Powering the watch is a highly collectable, Swiss made Wittnauer signed Valjoux 22 movement with column wheel chronograph, 17 jewels and manual winding. These period Valjoux movements are considered by most watch collectors to be some of the best made.
The watch comes fully serviced and is keeping very good time. All chronograph functions (stop, start, flyback) are working just as they should. It comes ready to wear and enjoy for years to come on a soft, genuine leather strap; handmade in France.
